Description:

Pitturalia Plug is a rapid setting, cement-based mortar for permanent sealing of water leaks and seepage in concrete and masonry substrates. The product is easy to use and requires only the addition of water. The special formulation of Pitturalia Plug enables it to harden in seconds without shrinking, and to effectively plug water leaks under pressure. Pitturalia Plug will then set within three to five minutes (at normal temperatures) ready for subsequent application of a suitable waterproofing membrane.

Recommended Applications:

Pitturalia Plug is suitable as a plugging mortar for internal or external applications including: Rapid sealing of fast flowing water leaks and water seepage in concrete, concrete block walls, brickwork, earthenware and all types of stone and masonry surfaces. Emergency repairs on water pipes (even when under pressure) emergency plugging of gas leaks anchoring bolts and other accessories that require immediate use underground basements, tunnels and sewers to stop water under pressure.

Advantages:

Stops water flow quickly and effectively. Its rapid setting characteristics may be sped up or slowed down through the addition of warm or cold water. Easy to apply will not shrink or become weak following applications and will take on the same strength as concrete. Non-toxic can be used for drinking water applications. Provides a permanent durable repair solution easily sanded back when dry. Work on concrete brick stone and all types of masonry. Can be installed underwater packed in convenient re-sealable plastic containers, does not contain chlorides.

Packaging:

Pitturalia Plug is supplied in powdered form in 5kg plastic buckets or *0 kg paper bags.

Volume:

One kilogram of Pitturalia Plug fills approximately **0 **0mls, depending on the mixing water used. The cavity volume is approximately 1.6kg/liter.

Technical Performance:

Surface Preparation:

1. for quickly sealing cracks and joints, chisel out the affected area to at least 3cm deep and approximately 4cm wide. Ensure that a square shape cut is made, and widen the wedge on the inside of the cut (as per diagram below). Avoid the V shape.

2. Clean the surface to be waterproofed until it is free of concrete curing compounds, form release agents, paints and all other coatings, dirt and contamination.

3. It is important to wet the surface if water is not present at the time of application.

Mixing:

NOTE: - Please shake product bucket prior to use to unsettle the contents.

1. Mix only enough Pitturalia Plug that can be applied in three minutes and if it is a water leak, mixes only the amount of material that can be used with your hand.

2. Fill a plastic or rubber container with Pitturalia Plug powder and slowly add water until a mortar like consistency is formed.

3. One kilogram of Pitturalia Plug requires approximately ******0ml of water depending on weather conditions.

Application: 

As Pitturalia Plug is an abrasive material, ensure to wear gloves prior to application. Apply Pitturalia Plug with a trowel, a spatula or for best results, by hand. Do not pour the material in place.

Leaks in Cracks or Joints:

1. Once the surface has been prepared apply Pitturalia Plug in small amounts and mix only enough material that can be applied by hand. Knead the mixture by gloved hand for approximately *5 seconds until the temperature of the mix increases and it becomes warm and slightly stiff.

2. Due to the rapid setting time of the mortar, application must be done quickly and all substrate preparation has been done.

3. Shape the mortar into a ball ready to fill the prepared area. Install the plugging mortar immediately and maintain firm hand pressure on it for about *0 seconds until it has set.

4. In large repairs, work from the lowest end of the repair towards the highest end, applying each new plugging mix next to the previous.

5. Immediately remove the excess material and continue until the crack is completely filled. When the area is under great pressure, or if in a tunnel or basement, do not try to plug up the crack at once.

Sealing Concrete Slabs and Walls:

Ensure there is an opening of least 2 x 3 cm, and seal it with Pitturalia Plug - making a waterproof cove at the joint of floor and wall.

Expansion Joints: 

We do not recommend that Pitturalia Plug be used for expansion joints due to the rigid nature of the product and the fact that expansion are subject to constant movement.

Anchoring Pitturalia Plug is ideal for anchoring bolts and metal fixtures to concrete. 

Application temperature and curing:

During normal weather conditions, Pitturalia Plug takes between three to five minutes to set, depending on the temperature of the product, the water and atmospheric condition. Three to five minutes setting time is for temperature in the *8 º C to *0 ºC range. During warm weather, when temperatures are high, and Pitturalia Plug sets very quickly, cold water must be used to delay the setting time, which will allow enough time for applying the material. In extreme cases, keep the product in the shade and add ice to the mixing water.
