Toughened Glass/Tempered Glass is made by heating flat glass to just below its softening temperature and suddenly chilling it with jets of cold air. It results in the outer skins under powerful compressive stress and the interior with severe tensile stress. In consequence, the impact applied to the glass will be overcome by the compressional stress on the surfaces to assure safety of use.

Toughened Glass/Tempered Glass Features

1) 5 times harder than ordinary float glass.

2) Once breakage occurs, the glass disintegrates into small cubical fragments, which are relatively harmless to human body.

3) It withstands abrupt temperature change of **0 Centigrade.

4) Sizes are produced as per customer request. Once tempered, can not be cut down.

5)Tempered glass is produced by heating annealed glass in a furnace to **0 Centigrade. Progressing from the furnace, the glass is rapidly cooled with jets of cold air, inducing compressive stresses to the surface while the center remains tensile.

6)Conforms to American Standards ASTM C***8. All work done on glass (beveling, cutting, bending, etc) must be done before tempering.
