What is SmartPlug?

The SmartPlug is a device comprising of an intelligent detector/transmitter and an electrical outlet that manages when it should cut power to plugged in electrical devices, be it an electrical heater, TV entertainment system or other household electric appliances.

Just think about in your own home, how many times there is no one in the room and appliances have been left on or in standby consuming electricity and costing you money? SmartPlug will solve this problem by saving you money by shutting down the appliance for you automatically.

How does it work?

You just install one transmitter/detector in one room and plug in the electrical outlet plug into the wall socket. You then connect your appliances to the SmartPlug outlet. Pairing is done at the factory but you can also add additional SmartPlug outlets as they can be paired to the existing transmitter/detector.

The SmartPlug works in two selectable modes. Automatic Off only mode and Automatic Off and On mode.

Automatic Off mode:

This is where if you leave the room , after the selected amount of time (*5, *0 or *0 minutes), the transmitter/detector with establish that no one is in the room and sends a signal to the SmartPlug to deactivate the power outlet to the appliances connected to it.

After the person re-enters the room, the person will be detected but the outlet will stay in the off position. To activate the plug you will need to point any IR remote to the Transmitter/detector for 3 seconds and then it will send the signal to the SmartPlug wall socket to turn on the power again.

This mode is especially useful if you are particularly energy conscience as it requires a manual effort on the user to activate the power again. This gives maximum electricity savings.

Automatic On and Off mode:

This mode is the same as the previous mode, but instead when a person re-enters the room the person is detected and a signal is sent to the SmartPlug automatically and the power is activated automatically. This mode is where there is no need for interaction from the user. After the initial setup there is no need for the user to do anything different or remember to do some action to control the device. They just go about their daily lives as normal.
