A powerful deoxidizer and desulfurizer utilized in the production of high grade steel. Calcium Silicon is also been used to control the shape, size and distribution of oxide and sulfide inclusions improving fluidity, machinability, ductility, and impact properties of the final product.

Silicon-calcium alloys are mainly used in the production of steel and cast iron. Calcium and silicon have strong affinity with oxygen, and the deoxidation products is easy to float and easy to discharge. Therefore, the steel deoxidized with silicon-calcium alloy is relatively pure. When refining high-quality steel and special alloys, silicon-calcium alloy is often used as a deoxidizer.

In the production of cast iron, silica-silica is more effective than ferrosilicon in improving the properties of cast iron. The calcium-silicon alloy is not only an effective inoculants to promote the formation of spheroidal graphite, but also has the effects of deoxidation, desulfurization, denitrification and silicon addition.
