Sand is the general term for broken down granules of minerals or rocks, technically between about one-sixteenth of a millimeter to two millimeters in diameter, falling between silt and gravel in the spectrum of sizes. Kaolin or china clay is a natural mineral found in partly decompose-sled granite, an igneous feldsparic rock. Chemically, kaolin is a hydrated aluminum silicate containing Al2O3.2SiO2.2H2O.
