Our Silica Sand Site is found to have rich silica-sand during this
investigation is Ramisi under the ownership of M-Benisa Ltd. The
average silica content of the sand is *5.*6% SiO2 with a standard
deviation of *2.4%. Individual values, however, range from a low of
*8.6%. to a high of *9.8%.
The deposits fall within the acceptable limits of industrial
silica-sand and may be used for the manufacture of glass among
other uses. The average content of iron in the sand is 0.*2%, which
is not very high to cause adverse colouration of the glass.
However, the iron may be reduced further through magnetic
separation in order to enhance the quality of the glass.
