The novaluron is a novel fluorine-containing insect growth
regulator, is one of benzoyl urea insecticides which has highest
activity, can stop the synthesis of chitin at an ecdysis stage in
the growth process of insects so as to affect the ecdysis of the
insects and ensure that new epidermises of pests cannot be formed
during the ecdysis and insect bodies die in a distorted shape, can
also regulate the growth and development of the insects and inhibit
the ecdysis and metamorphosis as well as the eating speed of the
pests, and has high ovicidal activity. When used at low dosage, the
novaluron has remarkable effects of preventing and killing larvae
of Lepidoptera, Coleoptera, Hemiptera and Diptera insects. The
novaluron is mainly used for crops such as cabbage, eggplants and
tomatoes.
