DINAR Pineapple (MD2) is a hybrid pineapple, which becomes the standard for the international market because of its colour, flavour, shape, life span and ripeness superior to other varieties. DINAR Pineapple (MD2) has extra sweet and is golden in skin colour when ripens. DINAR Pineapple (MD2) always grows in uniform size, which gives medium to large (1.**2kg) cylindrical and with square–shouldered fruit with large flat eyes. It also has spineless leaves and greener than most varieties. The pulp is sweeter, more complex, less fibre and contains four times more vitamin C than regular varieties but less acidity. This new variety ripens evenly and naturally. It has a longer shelf life of *0 days after harvest as against *1 days for the other varieties and able to survive in cold storage for up to 2 weeks. Tissue cultured plantlets are the most suitable planting material in pineapple cultivation because they are not contaminated and resistant to mealy bugs, nematodes, wilt disease, heart and root rot. Ripe fruits that are produced using traditional methods are usually harvested after *5 to *7 months of planting, while fruits developed from micro propagation only needs approximately *2 months to be harvested.
