However, simple mechanical ventilation increases the fresh air load on conditioning systems resulting increase in tonnage and more energy cost. Principle of Operation In a counter flow arrangement, the rotating, air permeable storage mass is heated and cooled alternately by the heat releasing and heat absorbing air streams. Depending on the air conditions and on the surface of the storage mass also moisture may be transferred in this process. The supply and extract air streams must be adjacent and pass through the heat exchanger simultaneously. ADVANTAGES Heat recovery is efficient : Reduce cost to condition outside air upto *0% by recovering sensible and latent exhaust air energy. Heat recovery from extract air is the most efficient way to save energy in ventilation plants. Heat recovery is economical : Using waste heat improves the yield of the energy used; the amortization period in the area of ventilation technology already lies under three years in case of one-shift operation. Heat recovery is thus not only an efficient, but also an economic possibility to lower energy costs. Heat recovery is environmental protection. Through heat recovery, the pollutants emitted during the generation of heat are reduced; in addition to dust, this particularly includes carbon compounds, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen monoxide.
